Under the spiritual patronage of Khensur Rinpoche Geshe Tashi Tsering, TKSL is a school of Buddhist Science with an emphasis on philosophical teachings relating to the nature and workings of consciousness/cognition; the way things exist; and the difference between how they exist and how they appear to us.
The purpose and benefit of the study is to help us understand how our minds work so that we can bring them under our control and thereby lead happier lives.

What's On
Here is the schedule for this week:
Monday 20th April: Studies in Buddhist Science with Huong at 10:30am Zoom
The book series Science and Philosophy in the Indian Buddhist Classics by His Holiness “…compiles classical Buddhist explorations of the nature of our material world, the human mind, logic, and phenomenology and puts them into context for the modern reader.” In this way, we are given the opportunity to better understand the mind and, in that understanding, build the foundations of stable, lasting happiness even in the chaos of the modern world. This term we will be exploring the first volume of the series, The Physical World. This exploration of Buddhist science does not require belief in any religious tradition, but is open to all who are curious about how the mind works and want to improve their own mental health.
Tuesday 21st April: No classes or Pujas
Wednesday 22nd April: The Five Forces: the quintessence of the entire dharma with Tsewang from 6.00pm Zoom
On Wednesday nights we will explore the five forces as a profound framework for inner transformation. As is stated in the Lama Chöpa:
"In short, no matter what appearances may arise, be they good or bad,
We seek your blessings to transform them into a path ever-enhancing the two Bodhicittas
Through the practice of the five forces – the quintessence of the entire Dharma –
And thus to attune ourselves solely to the bliss of the mind”
Rooted in the Mahayana aspiration to attain enlightenment for the benefit of all beings, the five forces provide a condensed method for reshaping the mind, integrating all the points of mind training into the practice of a single lifetime. A practical and succinct presentation for combining dharma practice with daily life and preparing for the moment of death, the five forces act as a continuous discipline that unites philosophy and action, wisdom and compassion.
Thursday 23rd April: No classes or Pujas
Friday 24th April: Entering the Middle Way 4th Chapter “The Radiant” with Tsewang from 6.00pm Zoom
Join us on Friday nights to explore Chandrakirti’s presentation of the 4th bodhisattva ground: “The Radiant”, where the perfection of joyous effort is attained. Joyous effort is not merely grit determination that forces its way through challenge or fatigue, but the deep enthusiasm and delight in virtue that keeps dharma practice alive – that underpins all our qualities, and that prevents obstacles from becoming overwhelming. Based on an understanding of the qualities of this fourth ground bodhisattva who has perfected joyous effort, we will investigate how to bring enthusiasm and steadfastness to practice, to ensure our qualities of mind increase more and more.
Saturday 25th April: Mind and Mental Factors Made Easy: Discussion starts from 3:00pm and the session with Drolma from 3:30 on Zoom
We all seek peace and happiness while avoiding suffering. These experiences arise from the mind, making it essential to understand the nature of mind and the mental factors that shape how it engages with objects. This knowledge helps us eliminate negative states of mind and develop positive ones.
Sunday 26th April: No classes or Pujas
